0On the 29th of February, the ICS Sala de Atos hosted the Seminar on Communication and Diversity, entitled “Galabra Network as a Transdisciplinary Proposal for Research in Culture“, given by Elias J. Feijó Torres, full professor at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) and director of the GALABRA research group. His intervention focused on the cultural dynamics and exchanges among different communities.
His contribution to the seminar by introducing the concept of Culturology highlighted the importance of the GALABRA Network as a platform that calls for “transdisciplinarity as a necessity”. In addition, it promoted the relevance of discourses and narratives in identifying spaces and places. In this sense, among other examples, he presented the narrative evolution of the Camino de Santiago de Compostela.
Elias J. Feijó Torres is a full professor at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) and director of the GALABRA research group (on the Galician, Portuguese, Brazilian and African cultural systems in the Portuguese language). In 1996, he received the Extraordinary Doctoral Prize. He specialises in the theory and analysis of culture, relations between narratives, communities and territories and knowledge transfer. He was also vice-rector of USC (2006-2009), president of the International Association of Lusitanists (2008-2014) and president of the USC School of Philology (2020).
This seminar was organised with the Virtual Museum of Lusophony and the MigraMediaActs project.
