0Last Thursday, November 24th, MigraMediaActs project hosted journalist Sofia Pinto Coelho at the Communication and Diversity Seminar.
Sofia is the director of the documentary Daniel e Daniela. Histórias à minha filha (2022), a “road movie” documentary that follows an 83 year-old father and his 12 year-old daughter to learn about their origins, travelling through Cape Verde, São Tomé and Guinea-Bissau.
The event took place via zoom, was coordinated by sociologist Sheila Pereira Khan and was attended by just over a dozen participants. For about an hour, those present had the opportunity to discuss with the director not only aspects related to the production of the documentary, but also its content, with emphasis on the role that cinema can play in promoting public debate on themes such as colonialism and identity dynamics.
