On Thursday, September 21, at 9:30 p.m., MIRA FORUM in Porto hosted the launch of the book “Presentes! Africanos e Afrodescentes no Porto” by photojournalist Jose Sergio, and featured a presentation by sociologist Sheila Khan, a researcher with the MigraMediaActs project.
“The publication aims to be the first documentary record of the African and Afro-descendant presence in Porto, documenting a community that seems to be growing and diversifying, despite the scarcity of statistical and/or sociological instruments capable of measuring and characterizing this relatively recent phenomenon whose political and artistic inscription is not only due but urgent.”
More information about the book can be found on the Mira Forum website (only in portuguese).
